How to: Make Baby Wipes

Making your own baby wipes is super simple, and you can probably do it with things you already have cluttering up your nursery! They’re better for baby, the environment and your wallet.

Supplies:

2 receiving blankets cut up into squares.

1 Tablespoon Natural Baby Soap like Bronners Magic Baby Soap

1 Tablespoon Coconut oil

1 cup boiled water

2-3 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

Empty pop up baby wipes container.

Method:

Cut up the receiving blanket into square sizes that make sense to you, mine ended up being about 4” square. I used pinking shears because I read that they would prevent the edges from fraying – which they kinda did, I guess. If you’re worried about frayed edges – you can always use a sewing machine and run a quick stich around the edges.

If you want your wipes to “pop” up out of the wipes container, you can accordion fold them. If you don’t care – you can just shove them all in there.

Mix baby soap, coconut oil, water and lavender oil with a whisk and pour into wipes container.

Wipe butts.

Wash wipes with your cloth diaper laundry or regular baby clothes. If the wipe is very soiled, you can give it a quick rinse in the sink before throwing it into the hamper.

I’ve been using the same wipes for about 6 months, and I find that I need to throw one or two out occasionally because they fray or unravel, but for the most part they’re holding up really well.

Happy wiping!
